North Dakota
Pick up the trail of America's greatest legends in North Dakota,
and you'll find yourself in a legendary adventure of your own.
Lewis and Clark, Sakakawea, George Custer, Sitting Bull and Theodore
Roosevelt lived out larger-than-life adventures here. Whether you
follow in their footsteps and rediscover the past or blaze your
own trail and discover what makes North Dakota legendary today,
you'll find wide-open spaces and wide-open fun!
If your idea of blazing a trail leads you to the links, you’ve
come to the right place. This may surprise you, but North Dakotans
are among the most avid golfers, with one of the highest numbers
of golf courses per capita in the nation. In every corner of the
state, excellent courses boast very reasonable green fees and all
kinds of terrain for a variety of challenges. You can even golf
the Lewis & Clark Golf Trail in North Dakota.
If enjoying the splendors of outdoor activities is your idea of
a vacation, North Dakota offers two National Grasslands that provide
outstanding hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities on opposite
ends of the state. In the west, the Little Missouri National Grasslands
include immense open prairies, high plains and badlands landscapes.
In the east, the Sheyenne National Grasslands put you back in time,
preserving native grasslands and sand hills in one of the last
places where you can experience the diverse prairie as it was experienced
by early Native Americans and the first European immigrants to
settle here.
North Dakotans enjoy a good time as much as anyone else. We invite
you join us for top-name musical acts, theatrical productions,
art galleries or sporting events. North Dakota has some of the
finest venues in the country. Take time to see for yourself. Take
time for North Dakota.
